Reconciling marginalism with the core in two-sided markets with money
Brink, René van den; Núñez, Marina; Robles, Francisco; … - 2025
In two-sided markets with money, core stability and marginalism are often in conflict. We reconcile them with two main results. First, we show that in the assignment game (Shapley & Shubik, 1972), the Banzhaf value is core stable if and only if the game is exact. This is surprising for two...

Marxism and Marginalism

This short paper presents the Marxian value theory and its contradiction. As an alternative Marginalism is introduced and it is shown that marginal cost is equal to the monetary expression of marginal labour value. Marginal labour value is proportional to the price

Diminishing Marginal Utility Revisited
Kimball, Miles S.; Reck, Daniel; Zhang, Fudong; Ōtake, … - National Bureau of Economic Research - 2024
How quickly does marginal utility fall with increasing consumption? It depends on the dimension along which we consider concavity of the utility function. This paper estimates the distribution of heterogeneous curvature parameters in individuals' utility functions from hypothetical choice data,...
