Translating abbreviations is one of the most difficult elements of oral and written speech. The study of reduction seems to be very relevant for several reasons. Firstly, this is due to the presence of a large number of abbreviated lexical units of various kinds, characteristic of modern Hindi military terminology, widely used both in the oral speech of military personnel and in all kinds of combat documents military regulations. Second, ignorance of the expansion of military abbreviations leads to a subjective interpretation of the text and can lead to serious problems. It has been found that the features of the function and translation of abbreviations of military terms in modern Hindi represent a specific language material, differing in many respects from ordinary lexical units. As the analysis shows, the vast majority of Hindi military terminological abbreviations are borrowed from English, the full form of which does not always reveal their true meaning. Therefore, to make their meaning clear, their decoding in English is often given in parentheses or dubbed in Hindi.
