5.10. Multiculturals
Multicultural individuals, also known as biculturals or multiculturals, are individuals who possess knowledge of, identify with, and internalize more than one culture. Early research on multicultural individuals has revealed cognitive and behavioral patterns that diverge from their monocultural counterparts. A multicultural background and the resultant cross-cultural skills can be an asset for multicultural individuals employed by multinational enterprises, which inherently face cross-cultural challenges on a regular basis. Current research on multicultural individuals delves into the diverse pathways of multicultural identity formation and examines the skills that empower multiculturals to excel in multicultural environments.
