5. Navigating the challenges of rapid information systems implementation
“Goodies” is a company in the food industry. It had been part of a large food corporation and received its IT services from the corporation. In February 2019, it was purchased by a private businessman. The company found itself having to build IT systems from the ground up. The official launch date of the company to the general public was set for January 2020. This case study delves into the development and implementation of the necessary systems, and the challenges facing the information systems department. Due to time constraints, some errors were made, not surprisingly, during the development and implementation of various systems. Until November 2019, it was unclear whether Goodies’ information systems were properly prepared to support the organization's commercial activity and reach a diverse customer base by early 2020. The question arose whether the identified gaps could be addressed in the time frame?
