6- from Free Trade to Globalization : The Realignment of the Nation-State and Trading Areas. The Case of the Ftaa Agreement

This paper attempt to survey some political considerations that ended in the launching of the Summit of the Americas. This is a manifestation of the new uprising showed by the globalization process. We here by put into perspective economic assumptions that were conceived to launch the free trade negotiations associated with the FTAA Agreement, one of the accorded Summit objectives. In this research chapter are explored also some of the possible changes in the structure of the nation-state in regards to preserving democracy and promote trade. We followed the line whereas related institutions that support the state structure developed to strength democracy and increase peoples' participation. Bilateral, multilateral and regional integrating strategies are assumed to have advanced as a real international politics practice, one of its immediate results has been democracy stability and the increase in trade currents. However, despite modernization the observation of facts suggest that still some democratic practices in the continent showed some perils of fractures. Despite advance in the improvement in the political scenario given by more participation of voters and undeniable contribution to economic growth attributed to trade still some countries and localities experience backwardness despite assumptions associated with convergent economic growth theory, matter to be further explored
