A Thermal-Electrochemical-Mechanical Coupled Model of Li-Ion Battery Based on Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics

According to non-equilibrium thermodynamics in Li-ion batteries (LIBs), the complicated coupling relations exist among the electric flux, ion flux, heat flux and so on. In this paper, we propose a thermal-electrochemical-mechanical coupled model which could predict capacity loss, concentration evolution, thermal runaway and mechanical degradation by considering thermal diffusion effects, thermoelectric effects, Dufour effects and other interactions between physical fields. The calculation results of TECM model show that, the maximum value of electrochemical calculation difference can be achieved at 4 C, and the thermal calculation difference can be got at 2 C.
