An insight into successful raw materials projects : EU Horizon technology success stories; Vol. 4

In March 2024, the Critical Raw Materials Act was officially approved, marking a significant step toward enhancing Europe's strategic autonomy in critical raw materials (CRMs). The Act outlines specific measures to strengthen domestic production, improve recycling capabilities, and diversify external suppliers, ensuring that the EU remains resilient to disruptions in global supply chains. This legislation is central to securing the raw materials necessary for achieving the EU's green and digital transitions. In addition, so far in 2024, as part of the European Green Deal's ongoing implementation, we have established five new agreements with international partners in the raw materials sector. HaDEA, the European Health and Digital Executive Agency, is proud to support this mission by facilitating the implementation of Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects focused on raw materials. These EU-funded projects are operating in a dynamic geopolitical landscape, where scientific collaboration fosters innovation that advances the EU's strategic interests.
