Analysis of Gender Differences in Salaries : Evidence for India (Delhi Ncr)

Gender discrimination in the labour market has been a subject of various social and political debates all around the world. The current research is an examination of the prevalent wage differentials in the organised sector of India's capital city, Delhi NCR. The cross sectional data set of 95,200 employees pertaining to the year 2016 has been analyzed to reveal that a significant pay disparity exists between the female and male employees. Further more, the trends show that the gap widens as women climb up the corporate ladder. Also, on evaluation of different industries, a variation in the gender pay gap is found, making the pay disparity an industry specific phenomenon
