Dr. Antonio Sánchez-Bayón untersucht in seiner neuartigen Studie das Beziehungsmodell zwischen Staat und Religion in den Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika. Aufgrund seines außerordenlich logischen Denkens und seiner interdiszpilinären Ausbildung in Rechtsgeschichte, Rechtsphilosohpie, vergleichender Rechtswissenschaft, Kirchenrecht und anderen Sozialwissenschaften kommt er zu einem überraschenden Ergebnis, das über ein vereinfachtes Wissen über die USA und deren Menschen weit hinausgeht. Die USA ist ein konfessionsloser Staat, seine Bevölkerung ist aber religiös. Um diesem Phänomen auf den Grund zu gehen, wird unter anderem das amerikanische Kirchenrecht analysiert und systematisiert, was in den USA als spezielles Fachgebiet des öffentlichen Rechts und in den Universtiäten als eigenständige Disziplin behandelt wird. Die Studie widmet sich der Erklärung der wichtigsten Variablen der anglo-amerikanischen Version des Ius Circa Sacra (postjüdisch-christliche politische und rechtliche Theologie), der Übernahme dieser Variablen und deren notwendige Umsetzung. Weiter werden die amerikanischen Rahmenregulierungen, durch die Religionsfreiheit und andere Bürgerrechte anerkennt und gewährleistet werden, sowie der juristische Status und die Finanzierung des Klerus und der Kirchen untersucht. Der Autor kommt zu der überraschenden Schlußfolgerung, dass das amerikanische Beziehungsmodell Staat und Religion nicht nur für die Amerikaner gültig ist, sondern auch die Kontinentaleuropäer, die gewisse Schwierigkeiten haben, die Bereiche Religion, Politik und Recht harmonisch zu ordnen, inspirieren könnte.
