THE ECB'S NEW BOSS - As head of the European Central Bank, Jean-Claude Trichet replaces Wim Duisenberg, a Dutchman known for his hawkish monetary policy and, early in his term, glaring gaffes. The latter shouldn't be a problem for his successor, who is famous for his savoir faire.
