The paper examines the present condition of tribals in India with a demographic perspective. Construction of a long-term demographic perspective on Indiaâ€™s tribal population rests on the premise that aggregation over diverse tribal groups is valid not only in statistical and quantitative terms, but it is useful both conceptually and operationally.
