Change Management as a Strategy to Achieve Sustainable Competitive Advantage of Telecommunication Organisations in Harare, Zimbabwe

This study on change management as a strategy to achieve sustainable competitive advantage of telecommunication organizations in Harare, Zimbabwe was carried out because there has been a lag in the telecommunication industry where companies are not assertive enough to device change management strategies. The study intended to establish forms of changes that telecommunication organizations adopted to transform business, to examine the drivers of change for telecommunication organizations in Zimbabwe, to determine how company executives implement changes at telecommunication organizations in Zimbabwe and to establish the effect of the change on the competitive advantage of telecommunication organizations. This study adopted positivism research philosophy, quantitative strategy approach and a cross sectional survey research design. The study adopted a closed questionnaire as a research instrument. A sample of 217 was selected through purposive sampling. The main findings are that telecommunication organization embark on changes such as adoption of planned and unplanned changes, digital innovation, mergers, diversification and acquisitions. The study concluded that organizations are driven by globalization, changing customer needs and preferences, advent of new technology and stiff competition and pressure when they adopt change. The study recommends that executives works on improving organizational culture alignment, adjusting leadership style, involving every stakeholders, making consultations from senior managers and directors and communication with each member
