Collective Intelligence Approach for New Mobility
This chapter examines how collective intelligence is transforming the mobility industry into the era of “new mobility.” Collective intelligence—the collaborative problem-solving and knowledge-sharing of groups—is reshaping traditional paradigms, business models, and global value chains (GVCs). Furthermore, this explores new business models emerging from digitalization and collective intelligence, such as mobility as a service (MaaS) and car-sharing platforms. The shift from traditional mobility to new mobility that emphasizes alternative energy sources, sustainability, connectivity, and user-centric services, is driven by advancements in electric vehicles (EVs), connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs), digital platforms, big data, and artificial intelligence. Collective intelligence is redefining relationships within the mobility value chain, moving from OEM-dominated hierarchies to collaborative networks involving diverse stakeholders like tech companies and public entities. This necessitates shared knowledge, data exchange, and cooperative innovation.
