Considered Organizational Issues in a Private University Hospital : A Case Study

Qualitative case study methodology avails a researcher with important tools to study phenomena. This study is based on a university hospital experiencing low patient numbers. A case study approach was used in developing a model on the management of the hospital and other hospitals experiencing similar hardships and to answer questions such as ‘how’ and ‘why’. The purpose of this study is to identify and locate reasons behind the low patient numbers at the Hospital and recommend ways of improving the current situation. The study highlighted a number of factors such as poor management, inefficiency, lack of employee promotions and a shortage of specialized doctors which together lead to low patient admission numbers. The study recommends a holistic approach to address the highlighted problems in the form of a model
