Continuous Process Monitoring

The periodic nature of auditing and monitoring allows for a valuable time-delay between the occurrence of an important business event and the analysis of that event. Advances in technology provide opportunities to reduce the time delay between the occurrence and analysis of a business process event. This study proposes a conceptual methodology that illustrates how a rule-based process mining technique can be used to provide continuous monitoring of controls for a business process. By significantly reducing the time-delay, the created information becomes more valuable. The conceptual framework was demonstrated on a procurement process using event logs obtained from a national not-for-profit organization.
