Digitisation: still the preserve of preservationists rather than users

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine the use of digitisation. Design/methodology/approach – The paper looks at the ways in which digitisation can be used. Findings – The paper finds that digitisation has been used chiefly as a way of preservation, but it should also be looked at as a means of improving access. Originality/value – The paper presents useful information on the use of digitisation as a means of access.
