Does Infrastructure Development Contribute to Poverty Reduction in Sub-Saharan Africa?

This paper assesses the effects of the development of infrastructural on the reduction of poverty in 35 countries of Sub-Saharan Africa during the period 2003-2020. After multiple regressions using fixed effects, random effects, generalized least squares and Drisc-Kraay methods, we obtained several results. The main results show that the development of infrastructure significantly reduces extreme poverty in sub-Saharan Africa. Our result remains robust by applying the GMM estimator which takes into account the endogeneity phenomenon. A specific policy based on infrastructure development should be put in place to improve the standard of living of the population and increase the income of the population. This would certainly lead to the reduction of extreme poverty in sub-Saharan Africa
