Dr Akbar, Mumtaz Food Industries Ltd - Keynote Lecture
Every business starts somewhere and theres no limit to how far it can go! was the message that Dr Gul-Nawaz Khan Akbar, the Managing Director of Mumtaz Food Industries Ltd, one of the UKs leading Asian companies in food manufacturing delivered to Leeds Met staff and students at yesterday evenings event.Dr Akbar joined the family business as Managing Director in 1992 and has overseen the expansion of the company into the manufacturing and distribution of frozen meals through many of the nations major supermarket chains. Dr Akbar explained how Mumtaz had grown from a small local take away with a turnover of around £300k when he joined in 1992, to the nationally recognised company it is now, with a multi-million pound turnover. He spoke enthusiastically about the necessity to have self belief and a determination to follow your goals.
