Establishing AI-Specific Cloud Computing Infrastructure
The exponential growth of artificial intelligence (AI) has necessitated the existence of special cloud computing infrastructures that are uniquely appropriate for AI workloads. Current cloud environments, although very effective for general computing, are not well-suited to meet the computational intensity, scalability, or latency requirements for AI applications. The chapter lays down the critical aspects of designing and implementing AI-specific cloud computing infrastructure that can optimize AI system performance, efficiency, and reliability. Key focus areas include the integration of high-performance GPUs and TPUs for acceleration in computations of AI, the role of edge computing in minimizing latency in real-time applications, and scalable architectures to ensure dynamic workloads. The chapter also draws out issues of security, data governance, and compliance of AI clouds as it highlights the best practices for robust and ethical implementations of AI.
