EU consumer habits regarding fishery and aquaculture products : Eurobarometer summary

This Special Eurobarometer survey is the fourth on this topic, following the ones respectively in June 2016, in June/July 2018, and finally in March/April 2021. This September/October 2024 survey constitutes a continuation of the aforementioned editions by replicating some questions previously asked and introducing new ones. It aims at improving transparency and understanding of the EU internal market for FAPs to enable operators to better understand consumption trends and be more competitive. It continues framework, and support the assessment of the performance and efficiency of EU intervention in that domain. This 2024 report provides critical insights into EU consumer habits, preferences, and perceptions regarding FAPs, as well as seaweed and algae products, offering a comprehensive view of the factors influencing purchasing decisions. It also probes consumers' views of the information that accompanies FAPs, defined under the CMO Regulation, ensuring consumer protection within the EU and allows citizens to make informed purchasing choices.
