Summary: In September 1994, the Council of Ministers decided on a Directive on the establishment of a European Works Council for the purposes of informing and consulting employees (94/45/EC). The emergence of European Works Councils (EWCs) is a major part of the development of an industrial relations system at European level. The Club Med EWC was formed on 18 September 1996 by a preliminary agreement within the framework of Article13 of the 1994u009695 European Directive. Signed for a set period of three years, the agreement was renewed in October 1999 for an indefinite period.
