Evaluating a communication management tool for corporate innovation-projects
Communication processes for introducing and implementing a corporate innovation-project toincrease overall organisational performance can be delicate and difficult for managers mainlybecause employees can fear and resist perceived negative effects of the proposed change. In thispaper an evaluation is made of a communication management tool using electronic meeting supportled by an external facilitator (Ems&facilitator) that is not widely used for project managementin corporate settings. An analysis of a case as well as empirical studies demonstrates that thiscommunication management tool has potential for cost-effectiveness and for speeding up theprocess of building ownership and commitment for the corporate innovation-project, thus makingthe process of implementation easier and more comfortable for all involved. Benefits of applyingthe tool are linked to psychological and ethical factors and to principles of integrative leadershipand management as a basis for effective communication in corporate contexts.
