Evaluating the Significance of Management Information Systems on Strategic Decision Making for Gaining Competitive Advantage

Purpose: Management Information System is considered to be very significant in modern day organisations, because of its ability to collect, compile and process information that is used by the management to make strategic decisions. The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the significance of MIS in strategic decision making for achieving competitive advantage.Methodology: This study conducted the qualitative systematic review and developed the conceptual framework that helped in achieving study objectives.Findings: Findings of this study informed that Management Decision Making is a significant tool for strategic decision making, as it helps in compiling, processing and providing relevant business related information that companies used to make strategic decisions that support them in gaining competitive advantage.Conclusion: this study concludes that MIS have a very significant role in improving business related decision making and developing strategic approaches for improving business functions. Therefore, organisations that use MIS as strategic tool are likely to achieve competitive advantage over competitors
