Greenhouse gas emission projections for Europe

The projected progress of the EU Member States and candidate countries towards reaching their Kyoto Protocol targets by 2010 is analysed in this report. The analysis is based on national programmes. For each country the report shows projected emissions and the sectors that are contributing most, and gives a detailed overview of existing policies and measures and their potential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The report supports the European Commission's annual evaluation report under the EU greenhouse gas monitoring mechanism and is a background report to EEA Environmental Issue report No. 33 ("Greenhouse gas emission trends and projections in Europe").
