Greenhouse gas emission trends and projections in Europe 2005

Projections show that the pre-2004 EU Member States (EU-15) could cut their total emissions to 9.3% below 1990 levels by 2010 with a combination of existing domestic policies and measures already implemented, additional policies and measures currently being planned and the use of credits from emissions-saving projects in third countries through the Kyoto Protocol's "flexible mechanisms". Thus the EU-15 Kyoto Protocol target could be achieved. All ten new EU Member States are on track to achieve their individual Kyoto targets.
