Improvement of Managerial Performance in Manufacturing Organizations - An Application of Responsibility Accounting

This study sets out to examine the application of responsibility accounting and its impact on managerial performance in manufacturing organizations. Non- probabilistic sampling technique has been used for the study. Four hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. To achieve this, data were collected through a well-structured questionnaire from twelve manufacturing organizations in Anambra State. The data were presented in frequency tables and analysed using percentages and mean scores, and the hypotheses were tested using Pearson correlation, t-test and chi-square test statistics. The result of the analyses showed that, there is a significant relationship between responsibility accounting and managerial performance, that responsibility accounting has' impact on managerial performance and that manufacturing organizations encounter problems in the application of responsibility accounting, which can also hinder the effectiveness of the system. The main recommendation of the study is that organizations should embrace and apply the concept as a complete package and ensure that the output of the system is utilized to improve activities and operations in the organization
