Improving Students' Motivation through Textbook Illustrations with Feedback in the Learning of Biology in Makurdi Local Government Area

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of textbook illustration with feedback on students' motivation to learning Biology. It answered 2 research questions 2 hypotheses. The study adopted quasi-experimental, pre-test and post test design. The sample consisted of 228 SSII students from six secondary schools. The schools were randomly assigned into experimental and control groups. Data were collected using students motivation questionnaire (SMQ). It was validated and Cronbach Alpha was used to determine its reliability with the value of 0.82. Descriptive statistic of mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions, while Analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The result revealed that textbook illustrations with feedback enhance students' motivation in learning Biology. It was also founded that there is no significant difference in the motivation scores of males and female students. The study recommended the use of textbook with feedback in Biology teaching among others
