INCOME OF HOUSEHOLDS WITH CHILDREN AND CHILD POVERTY

Preventing and alleviating child poverty constitute main concerns for the strategies and policies in the field of social protection and social inclusion in the European Union, and significantly reduce child poverty, as one of the core objectives of these strategies. Setting up policies of child poverty alleviation implies knowing the dimensions and characteristics of this phenomenon, the reasons behind it and conditions that favour it, firstly of those determining the low level of incomes at the disposal of many families with children. The paper comprises an analysis of the level, structure and dynamics of incomes in households with children and of the main parameters of child poverty in Romania. Comparisons with Member States of the European Union are provided also.
