Increasing Group Emotional Intelligence through Employment Selection Process

Emotional Intelligence as the ability to be proficient in personal, group and organizational situations is attracting huge academic research in relation to how to use it and increase it in individuals, groups and organizations. This study examines how to increase group emotional intelligence through employment selection process. Increasing group emotional intelligence may not be a question of organizational structure but more of person-group-fit arrangement where factors in terms of intelligence quotient, competencies and personality traits may be demonstrated during tests and interviews. This is crucial because group emotional intelligence is a function of individual intelligence and also intelligence itself is a group of underlying abilities on which individuals differ but which enables them to cope meaningfully with different types of situations. The result shows positive relationship between the variables of interest, and further study could examine poor public management in many countries to determine the major causes. It is also important for employment interviews to hold under conducive climate to avoid intimidating job candidates, so as to obtain comprehensive information from them
