m-Enterprise Technology: Diffusion of Innovation Awareness, Adoption and Uptake
Three identified areas of m-business research significance are consumer awareness and satisfactionfor mobile services, the upcoming trends that may influence future adoption, and social and workpractices that may favour the take-up and use of mobile wireless application services. Thispreliminary study attempts to answer these research needs by investigating the degree of awareness, future adoption and uptake of Bluetooth technology. It also studies the reasons and attitudes for nonadoptionand reluctance for uptake. The authors have conducted a survey based on Rogers' Diffusionof Innovation (Dol) theory to help predict users' adoption or rebuttal of Bluetooth wireless technologyand their reasons, with a Structured Case methodology. The favorable attitudes are a strong positiveindicator for future adoption and acceptance of mobile and wireless applications. Future researchwill focus on the awareness, adoption and uptake of mobile and wireless technology as they apply tothe health and education industry sectors.
