Mapping Central Bank and Digital Currency : A Taxonomical Study Using Bibliometric Visualization and Systematic Analysis

Despite the increasing fascination among academics in investigating digital currencies, a limited number of studies have been conducted in this field because of its novelty. Our study provides an overview or starting point for research by analyzing data on the specific issues of central banks and digital currencies (CBDC). We applied bibliometric analysis, cluster analysis, and multiple tables to demonstrate the correlation between the strongest bibliographic citations of the CBDC topic. We examined our findings using the data mining site Scopus and data analysis tool VOSviewer. We identified 230 documents published between 2005 and 2022. The results show that research on the central bank is highly interlinked with monetary policy and cryptocurrency, suggesting that this field is of growing interest because the global implementation of CBDC is incomplete. Considering its likelihood of growing and being a newly emerging topic, we suggest that more research be conducted on CBDC
