Monitoring Media Pluralism in the European Union : results of the MPM2025

The Media Pluralism Monitor (MPM) is a diagnostic tool developed by the Centre for Media Pluralism and Media Freedom (CMPF) at the European University Institute. Implemented every year since 2020, and evolved since 2014, the MPM evaluates, using a normative approach, potential risks to media pluralism within EU member states and candidates. It offers a comparative perspective between countries as well as a longitudinal analysis of the risks over time. For this 2025 edition, the MPM conserved its focus on four key dimensions of media pluralism Fundamental Protection, Market Plurality, Political independence, and Social inclusiveness and fine-tuned twenty key indicators.
