Owner-Led Urban Community Renewal Model——A Case Study of the Renewal of Old Communities, Xi’An, China

Community renewal is of great practical significance in improving the quality of life of urban residents and promoting sustainable urban development. This study adopts the case analysis method, taking the community renewal practice of Xinqingyayuan in Xi'an as an example, to systematically investigate the renewal practice process of the community in five aspects: governance power, public space, infrastructure, ecological environment, and social capital. The research shows that community owners and business committees become important leaders and enablers of community renewal, the owners have established a solid governance framework for the community renewal through the construction of institutionalized owner participation mechanism
