Personal Identity in the Dictator Game

´This paper aims to analize the role of personal identity indecision making. To this end, it starts by reviewing criticallythe growing literature on economics and identity. Consideringthe ambiguities that the concept of social identity poses, our proposalfocuses on the concept of personal identity. A formal modelto study how personal identity enters in individuals’ utility functionwhen facing a Dictator Game decision is then presented.Finally, this "identity-based" utility function is studied experimentally.The experiment allow us to study the main parametersof the model, suggesting that we should move with caution whenattributing identities to individuals.
