Ex-post and ex-ante evaluation study of the 2020-2026 protocol to the sustainable fisheries partnership agreement (SFPA) and of a possible Protocol implementing the SFPA between the European Union and Seychelles : final report

The 2020-2026 Protocol implementing the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership Agreement (SFPA) between the European Union (EU) and the Republic of Seychelles (Seychelles) provides access for a maximum of 40EU tuna purse seine vessels and eight EU surface longliners, in exchange for a minimum annual EU financial compensation of EUR 2 500 000. It also provides for an annual decoupled maximum EU contribution of EUR 2 800 000 forthe support and implementation of the Seychelles' fisheries sectoral fisheries policy and other related policies. In addition, the Protocol foresees payment of access feesby EU shipowners benefiting from the fishing opportunities available, and acontribution to a national fund for environmental management and observation of marine ecosystems in Seychelles waters. The EU Council allocated the fishing opportunities available to four EU Member States (France, Italy, Portugal and Spain).
