Qualitative research into small business experiences of using government services

The Small Business Service commissioned BMRB Social Research to conduct a qualitative study to explore the small business experience of interacting with government services. The research is designed to map the channels of information and support used by small businesses, to explore their experiences and views about their contact and communication with government services and present these as a series of case studies.Eighteen case studies were undertaken with a wide selection of small businesses, of which ten are described in detail in this report. Businesses were selected in terms of the nature of their ownership, size, age, type of dealings they had with government funded services and business sector.While the case studies were undertaken for purely illustrative purposes there are a number of themes that emerge.[...]
