Recommendations for format for reporting of data referred to in Article 76 of the new Batteries Regulation and quality check report : technical support to implement the new batteries regulation between 2023 and 2025 : final report; Task 3

Under the newly in force Batteries Regulation (EU) 2023/1542, reporting obligations for battery data have changed, with the new requirements going well beyond the obligations of the old Batteries Directive 2006/66/EC. At the same time, certain aspects relevant for future battery data reporting, such as calculation methods for recycling efficiencies, are still in development. Therefore, the finalised format for Member States' (MS) data reporting for batteries can only be finalised once certain aspects are agreed. The draft formats developed shall assist DG Environment in preparing the required implementing act to specify the data reporting formats and supplementary information in the Quality Check Report (QR) that Member States shall use for submitting their data to the European Commission about (waste) batteries according to Article 76 of the Batteries Regulation (EC) 2023/1542. Desktop research and survey responses that were collected during the study provided information about Member States' current status of battery data and their need to adapt to future data reporting obligations under the new Batteries Regulation. This information, further supplemented by stakeholder comments to a preliminary draft of the reporting formats, informed the development of the finalised version of the main results under this project task: Draft data reporting formats, as an Excel file with various worksheets and tables; and Draft Quality Check Report.
