In theory, regional development could be the centerpiece of Bulgaria's social and economic development in the European Union. However, the country's politicians not only misunderstand the philosophy of regional development but are also hostage to an obsolete concept of "modern" development. Therefore, Kamen Petrov has tried to write a really good, up-to-date textbook on EU regional policies which would be of use to young people in mastering regional science.
