Report on the consultation with tenants on the future ofsocial housing at Trafford Hall

Trafford Hall offers training, support and pump-priming grants to residents andvolunteers in low income communities to help them tackle local problems within theircommunities. Since 1994 when the Centre opened, around 70,000 participants have beenon residential courses leading to action plans based on sharing experiences and practicallearning. This made the centre an ideal base for residents to spend a day sharing ideas andexperiences of social housing with others who actually live in it. The purpose of theconsultation was to inform the Independent Review of Social Housing, established byRuth Kelly, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government in July 2006.Other stakeholder sessions for housing bodies were held in London and Sheffield inSeptember and October, 2006.[...]
