Review of the working time directive 2003/88/EC : measuring administrative costs and burdens of various possible options : final report

In 2010 the European Commission (EC) launched a review of the Working Time Directive (WTD) 2003/88/EC based on two elements: (i) a two-phase consultation process of European social partners and (ii) an assessment of the social and economic impacts of a series of policy options to amend the Directive. The present Study is aimed at contributing to this impact assessment, by estimating the administrative costs and burdens for public and private employers and Member State (MS) authorities that might arise from some of the proposed policy changes. In this respect, the Study is intended to provide EC services and social partners at the EU level with useful input for decision-making on a possible review of the Directive.
