Rural to Urban Migration : Population Distribution Patterns

Why do people live, work, and play where they do? How much, why, and between what points do people migrate, temporarily and permanently? These are relatively simple questions, but the answers are much less clear and do not fall neatly into one field of knowledge. Because choices are involved, choices with benefits and costs, economists are involved, but sociologists, demographers, geographers, urban and regional planners and others also make important contributions.
