Selecting the Optimum Location for Logistics Facilities Using Solver – Case Study

Siting logistics facilities strategically in the most cost-effective geographic location is one of the key decisions a contemporary company will make. The aim of the paper is to present a solution to this problem using the Solver add-on. In the case study discussed in the paper, the company’s central warehouse location was selected based on the classic location theory, which addresses the need to minimize the cost of transport. The mathematical model of the exercise is based on the Euclidean coordinates metrics. The method used in the study is summarised in the context of its strengths and weaknesses
