STATE OF THE ART IN SERVICEMODELING LANGUAGES

Automated use of electronic services calls for comprehensive service description languages.A couple of description languages have been developed so far each with a specific focus. Wedistinguish three different layers, syntactic, semantic, and resource description languages.In this paper we provide a condensed summary of service description languages of all threelayers as well as of such languages that incorporate multiple concepts. The combination ofsyntactic, semantic and resource description languages is the main precondition in order tosupport the process of automated service provisioning as well as to implement reasonablebilling and pricing functionality.
