Strategies for Balanced Development Planning of Fringe with Recently Extended Surat Urban Development Authority Area
Revision for development plan of suda-2035 was initiated in 2013 and yet to be approved. Earlier development plans were lacking the scientific studies of interdependencies of settlements of fringe areas. As fringe zone emerges adjustment between rural & urban way of life which starts drawing attention of planners and social scientists has drawn the attention of planners and social scientists. Yet the study of the urban fringe was neglected area of urban re¬search. Even in the developed countries only few studies have been undertaken in this regard though this developmental phase of urban morphology was even experienced there till the beginning of the present century. Likewise even in Indian fringe studies have not given much importance by scholar of any disciplines including geographers. Due to that we are experiencing major gap between geography and scientific study of interdependency of such fringe areas. Hereby chief objective of this paper is to clarify the conceptual framework of the urban fringe and provide planning strategies for balanced development of fringe of surat urban area.the study envisages the present scenario of developing nodes and to integrate it with future development. Hereby study incorporating schematic analysis which may be helpful to detail out development plan and as well as to frame guideline for t.p.schemes with its scientific background. Presently just a pathway is tried to be demark to understand interdependency of different fringe areas, which may further be detailed out
