Study on a potential framework for the environmental footprint database : final report
This final report compiles the results of the work done in the first part of the public procurement "Development of Life Cycle Information" launched in 2022 by the European Commission, Directorate General for Research and Innovation. In this report, a framework for a publicly available Environmental Footprint database is developed. It includes the general concept, definition of rules, roles and responsibilities of the different actors, the IT architecture and the IT tools needed to facilitate the creation, verification and updating of the datasets. The project was divided into two main phases. In the first phase, the contractor explored four different options for the framework of the Environmental Footprint database and its associated business models. These options were analysed by the European Commission, and the most suitable one was selected for further development in the second phase of the project, as presented in this report.
