Suriname Environmental and Social Safeguards Issues Paper: Upstreaming Environmental and Social Risk Management

This paper explores options for supporting the Government of Suriname's Green Vision and Strategy, with its corresponding policies and activities, as input for the Bank's 2011-2014 Country Strategy. It briefly describes Suriname's salient environmental and social characteristics and its major environmental issues and priorities, and it considers the Bank's current and projected portfolios in light of these issues and concerns. It ends with recommended actions for integration of environmental and social sustainability in development planning and management that are consistent with Bank policies and GCI-9 goals.
