Systems of Organizational Systems : Industry Cybernetics for the Telecom Network Infrastructure Industry

We propose in this paper that research methods drawn from three separate literature streams – industry evolution, the viable systems model, and system of systems analysis – can be combined to perform industry cybernetics analysis of technology-focused industries. The empirical example we examine for developing our method is the fifth generation (5G) mobile telecommunications network infrastructure industry, or 5G Infrastructure Industry for short. The research question we pursue is: How can industry cybernetics assist in the analysis of technology industries?
