The Implications of International Remittance Inflows on Educational Outcome In Nigeria

The developmental needs by less developed country have re-birthed economic imperialism and given rise to increased globalism, economic integration among country, for which Nigeria is not different given the country’s gross deficiencies in virtually the activity sector. As a consuming import dependent Nation, the economy relies heavily on international remittance for finance, however the migration trend in Nigeria has been on the rise with every 1 in three youth believing that migrating out of the country is the best alternative to economic freedom. Based on the established fact, the Nigerians are virtually in all the countries of the globe, the study therefore x-rays the implications of international remittance inflows on educational outcome in Nigeria using ordinary time series data source across a period of 1981 to 2020. Augmented dickey and fuller test, error correction mechanism, Johansen co-integration and multiple regression analysis were appropriately implored to establish the empirical nexus between international remittance and educational outcome in Nigeria. Following the empirical evaluations, the study found out that; remittance inflows are positive and statistically significant at 10% level of significance (higher than the conventional 5% level). This implies that efforts are not absolute and comprehensive in ensuring remittance inflows targets positive educational outcomes. We therefore recommend that efforts should be made by government authorities to improve on the utilization of remittance inflows for the positive educational outcome
