The influence of green absorptive capacity on agripreneurs' adoption of precision agriculture technologies : mediating effects of green innovations
Ismail Juma Ismail
This study examined the mediating effects of green innovation on the relationship between green absorptive capacity and agripreneurs' intention to adopt precision agriculture. This study was conducted in Tanzania, following a literature gap in the concept of green practices in the agricultural sector, especially the intention of agripreneurs to adopt precision agriculture technologies. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyze data obtained from agripreneurs in the Dodoma and Singida regions of Tanzania. The findings revealed that while green absorptive capacity is a key factor in shaping the intentions of agripreneurs to adopt precision agricultural technology, green innovation is a significant mediator of the relationship. This suggests that if green innovation is reinforced among agripreneurs through the proper development of green absorptive capacity, agripreneurs will be positively inclined to adopt precision agricultural technology. In addition, while the study adds new knowledge to the body of literature, it also has practical implications, such as providing practical means that agripreneurs can implement to address challenges related to the adoption of precision agriculture technologies in their farms for sustainable development.
