The influence of employee motivation on productivity in a merged real estate environment / R. Swart
The purpose of this research was to determine if motivation had any influence onproductivity in a merged real estate company. A secondary purpose of this researchwas also to determine the influence of commitment on motivation and productivity.A questionnaire was designed by the researcher emanating from the literaturereview addressing the variables of motivation, productivity and commitment. Thequestionnaire consisted of 58 questions: 4 demographical questions and 54questions on the three variables of motivation, productivity and commitment.Frequency analyses were used to determine the results from the questionnaire onthe three variables of motivation, productivity and commitment.Participants in the research included 315 employees of the 524 employees of thereal estate company. These employees were located in the Carlton, Inland and theCorporate offices that are situated in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Bloemfontein andKimberley.The results showed a direct link between motivation, commitment and productivitybased on aspects like training, work experience, work knowledge, culture andtradition, leadership styles and the understanding of information systems.A limitation of this research entailed that additional research will be needed onmergers in real estate companies seeing that this study is not a representativesample of all mergers in real estate companies.
